In October, Parshall
High School will once again be undertaking the state mandated CTB
tests. These tests are used to determine if our school district’s
students have met the state standards for Adequate Yearly Progress
(AYP). As most of you know, for the past two years, our students
have fallen short of the standards.
The Parshall School
Board, the school administration and the professional and support
staff are committed to working towards having our students make
the AYP standards. We know this is a difficult challenge. We also
know that we can not accomplish this alone. As parents, there are
ways that you can assist us in our endeavor. Studies show that the
more time a student spends in class with a teacher, the more he/she
accomplishes when testing. Having your child be in class on time
and as much as possible helps your child on his/her testing. Another
aspect that has been proven effective in testing is having parents
stress to their child the importance of doing as well on the testing
as he or she can. Having our students make their best efforts on
the test will go a long ways towards having them make the AYP standards.
Your child will also
benefit from the testing. The tests scores are used to identify
areas of strengths and weaknesses in your child. It will enable
teachers and support staff to focus on areas that students struggled
with on the testing. It will also help the staff determine what
concepts and ideas need to be presented to students so that our
students can continue to perform on the testing.
We know that together
with your assistance and our commitment, we will better be able
to meet the high test standards that the state has set.
